About Mortellaro's disease

Digital dermatitis (DD), also known as Mortellaro disease, is a chronic, contagious skin infection that mainly affects the feet of cattle.

It is caused by a bacterial complex dominated by spirochetes of the genus Treponema spp., often associated with other anaerobic bacteria present in the humid environment of barns. When the bacteria are present in a herd, they spread rapidly and are one of the main causes of lameness.

Digital dermatitis mainly affects dairy herds, where farming conditions favor its spread, but it can also affect suckler cows, heifers, and young cattle being fattened, particularly in confined or humid environments.

Our two ELISA kits take us one step further in the fight against the disease

The two indirect single-cup ELISA kits presented here enable reliable detection of antibodies against Treponema phagedenis. They are characterized by high sensitivity and specificity, ensuring accurate diagnosis of the infection.
