The Besnoitiosis PCR kit is a ready-to-use kit for the detection of Besnoitia besnoiti(B. besnoiti) by real-time PCR, for the diagnosis of Besnoitiosis in ruminants. This Besnoitiosis PCR test contains an endogenous IPC internal positive control.

✔ To improve the follow-up of your results over time, we offer a ready-to-use low-positive sample (MRI, Internal Reference Material, MRI-Besno-001, positive serum). This allows you to monitor the reliability of the test using a control graph. It is recommended to use it for each test.

About Besnoitiosis
Besnoitiosis is an infectious parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Besnoitia besnoiti. The disease mainly affects cattle, and is transmitted by ticks and hematophagous flies. Besnoitia parasites in ruminants are mainly found inside endothelial cells, which line blood vessels, capillaries and similar structures. These parasites belong to a group of intracellular protozoa, and their presence in endothelial cells can cause tissue damage, particularly in the skin, muscles and other organs. This infection is known as besnoitiosis. Symptoms of Besnoitiosis can include skin lesions, oedema, ulcers, subcutaneous nodules, conjunctivitis, eye damage and respiratory disorders in infected cattle.
Diagnosis & prevention of Besnoitiosis
This disease can cause significant morbidity and economic losses for breeders. Accurate diagnosis of animals heavily infested with B. besnoitii is crucial for rapid intervention and culling. To ensure the integrity and efficiency of your kits, follow these storage recommendations:
Real-time PCR kits:
On receipt: Store kits at a temperature ≤ -16°C. This preserves the quality and performance of the kit components.
ELISA kits:
On receipt: Store components at 5 ± 3°C to maintain efficacy. The concentrated wash solution can be stored at room temperature, i.e. 21 ± 4°C.
By respecting these storage conditions, you ensure the reliability and optimum performance of your kits for accurate and consistent results.
- The shelf life of a PCR kit for the detection of RNA pathogens (viruses) is 12 months.
- The shelf-life of a PCR kit for the detection of DNA pathogens (viruses, bacteria, parasites) is 18 months.
- The shelf-life of an ELISA kit is 15 or 18 months.
