Influenza A Milk ELISA kit

BioLisa® kit Influenza A blocking Ab Milk

BIOLK034

The Grippe A Milk ELISA kit is a competitive single-patient ELISA test for the detection of antibodies to Influenza A virus in individual milk samples and milk from large pools in cattle. This ELISA test can be used to diagnose avian influenza in multiple species (cattle, sheep, goats).

Influenza A ELISA kit in milk developed following French standards U47-310 and U47-019 (AFNOR)

Ready-to-use, colored reagents for fast, easy distinction

Influenza A Milk ELISA test competition monocupule (in breakable strips), sensitive and specific for detecting exposure of cattle, sheep, and goats to Influenza A virus.

 Short incubation protocol

To improve follow-up of your results over time, we suggest the use of ready-to-use low-positive samples (MRI, Internal Reference Material, BioLisa® MRI Milk Influenza A (Individual), and BioLisa® MRI Milk Influenza A (Pool), ref ELTINF001 and ELTINF002). They allow you to monitor test reliability via a control card. We recommend using them for every test.

Matrices: Individual milk sample or milk from large bovine, ovine, or caprine mixtures.

About Influenza A in cattle

The presence of Influenza A virus in cattle (particularly in dairy and beef cows) is an emerging area of research, although this virus has historically been associated with other species, especially birds (avian influenza), pigs (swine flu), and humans. Infections with Influenza A virus in cattle are rare, but sporadic cases have been reported in several regions around the world.

Since March 2024, dairy cows have tested positive for the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus, initially in Texas and Kansas. The infection has since spread to at least 16 U.S. states, affecting over 950 herds. Two distinct viral genotypes have been identified: B3.13 and, more recently, D1.1, detected in Nevada.

The initial transmission appears to have originated from wild birds, but cases of cow-to-cow transmission have also been reported, particularly through milking practices and the movement of animals.

To date, at least two human cases have been confirmed in the United States, in farm workers in Texas and Michigan, both showing mild symptoms. Health authorities consider the risk to the general population to be low, but they are closely monitoring the situation. The detection of H5N1 virus in cattle marks a significant shift in the surveillance of zoonotic diseases. Until now, cattle were not considered typical hosts for avian influenza viruses. This development highlights the urgent need to strengthen cross-species surveillance following a “One Health” approach.

In this context, the use of reliable, sensitive serological surveillance methods adapted to herd-level monitoring becomes essential. ELISA kits such as BioLisa® kit Influenza A blocking Ab Milk, developed for the detection of anti-Influenza A antibodies in bulk tank milk, fit perfectly within this strategy.

To ensure the integrity and efficiency of your kits, follow these storage recommendations:

Real-time PCR kits:

On receipt: Store kits at a temperature ≤ -16°C. This preserves the quality and performance of the kit components.

ELISA kits:

On receipt: Store components at 5 ± 3°C to maintain efficacy. The concentrated wash solution can be stored at room temperature, i.e. 21 ± 4°C.

By respecting these storage conditions, you ensure the reliability and optimum performance of your kits for accurate and consistent results.

  • The shelf life of a PCR kit for the detection of RNA pathogens (viruses) is 12 months.

  • The shelf-life of a PCR kit for the detection of DNA pathogens (viruses, bacteria, parasites) is 24 months.

  • The shelf-life of an ELISA kit is 15 or 18 months.

At BioSellal, we are constantly seeking to improve our products. We regularly carry out stability studies to extend expiration dates, guaranteeing that our kits will always perform better and last longer.
