BIOTK031

Number of reactions per kit

Description

The BTV1 PCR kit is a ready-to-use kit for the detection of Bluetongue virus type 1 (BTV1) strains by real-time PCR for the diagnosis of Bluetongue. This BTV1 test contains an endogenous IPC internal positive control.

BTV1 duplex PCR kit developed following French standard U47-600-2 (AFNOR)

Rapid thawing of the ready-to-use, blue-colored Master Mix for easy distinction

Reliable detection of BTV1 by real-time PCR thanks to endogenous IPC to ensure high-quality results on all matrices, even the most difficult ones

Matrices: Whole blood (on EDTA tubes). Individual analyses.

Kit developed on ABI PRISM® 7500 Fast (Applied Biosystems) in standard ramping and confirmed on AriaMx™ (Agilent Technologies, default Fast ramping) and ABI PRISM® 7500 Fast (Applied Biosystems) in Fast ramping. For other thermal cyclers, don't hesitate to contact our technical department.

About Ovine Catarrhal Fever type 1

Bluetongue type 1 (BTV1) is a viral disease that mainly affects sheep, goats and cattle. Caused by the FCO virus, the disease is transmitted by biting insects such as Culicoides midges. Symptoms of the BTV1 virus include fever, inflammation of the mucous membranes, lesions in the mouth and legs, and respiratory and circulatory problems, which can even lead to the death of the infected animal.

The disease can cause significant economic losses for livestock farmers, due to mortality in infected animals, production losses and trade restrictions that may be imposed to limit its spread. This is why early diagnosis of BTV1 is essential for effective control measures. BTV1 PCR kits such as those developed by BioSellal offer a rapid and accurate solution for the detection of Bluetongue type 1 virus in animal samples, enabling farmers and veterinarians to intervene rapidly to limit the spread of the disease and protect their herds.

Vaccination against the bluetongue virus is essential to prevent its spread and protect flocks. Both inactivated and live attenuated vaccines are used, but efficacy can vary. An appropriate vaccination schedule and post-vaccination surveillance are necessary to guarantee success. This strategy, integrated with other control measures, contributes to maintaining animal health and securing agricultural economies.

To ensure the integrity and efficiency of your kits, follow these storage recommendations:

Real-time PCR kits:

On receipt: Store kits at a temperature ≤ -16°C. This preserves the quality and performance of the kit components.

ELISA kits:

On receipt: Store components at 5 ± 3°C to maintain efficacy. The concentrated wash solution can be stored at room temperature, i.e. 21 ± 4°C.

By respecting these storage conditions, you ensure the reliability and optimum performance of your kits for accurate and consistent results.

  • The shelf life of a PCR kit for the detection of RNA pathogens (viruses) is 12 months.

  • The shelf-life of a PCR kit for the detection of DNA pathogens (viruses, bacteria, parasites) is 18 months.

  • The shelf-life of an ELISA kit is 15 or 18 months.

At BioSellal, we are constantly seeking to improve our products. We regularly carry out stability studies to extend expiration dates, guaranteeing that our kits will always perform better and last longer.
